Crossing the Bar

Well, Saturday was the funeral. It was pretty tough to go through but it was mostly because we were sorry for our selves. We will lose the warmth of his words and everything that he did to bring us joy and help us along life's path. I am glad for him that his life long suffering was over and that he could return with honor to the Lord.
Trisha and I printed up these photos and got some frames for the display table. Tres years ago made him the Army diorama ,which Grandpa loved, so we displayed this also. His uniform and purple heart were also displayed (not shown.)The National guard was there to fold the flag and give it to Grandma. (A very emotional moment.)

Kristina came with me because my Grandpa treated everyone like family. My dad said it was what grandpa would have wanted, to have all his grand daughters there. So on the way home we stopped by (Kristina's brother) Daniel's memorial where his police car flipped just outside of Superior. We miss him still.
All things considered it was a beautiful day. I am glad to know that when I pass on there will be a few familiar faces to greet me. I'd like to finish with the first and last lines of a poem that I like called
‘Crossing the Bar’ by Lord Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
...
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
