Sunday's Story: It was 1989...

So I decided to start doing Sunday's Story as a way of sharing a piece of my thoughts and life in a positive way with the world.
Today's story goes back to my childhood. I remember when I first moved to Gilbert. I was going into the 5th grade. I was leaving everything I knew in Mesa. When I arrived I wasn't allowed to go to school for the first 2 weeks because of some irrelavent circumstances.
I felt like I was starting from the bottom of the barrell. I was. Gilbert's currculem was far superior to the Mesa standard, I mean I could barely read a regular clock (if at all) and had never done cursive much other than what my Grandma Donna had lighly taught us.
If that wasn't enough, I wasn't me. I was somebody in Mesa. I could run the fastest, be out going, funny, and people knew me. I knew no one. The ones I tried to become friends with told me that someone should tell me that my clothes don't match. I had gotten a little chubby over the summer as well.
Then if that wasn't enough, the teacher HATED me. Oh she totally hated me. I never came to school with homework done. That was just fine at my last school. She'd publicly humiliate me everyday. She'd make me do work without my chair, go do it in other classrooms, tell me to explain to the class why, yell... -->You get the picture, so I wasn't winning any warm and fuzzies with her or my classmates.
It all boiled down to one day.
I'm all alone sitting in the heat, by the orange classroom door, at lunch recess. I had been praying so much the night before that God would send someone from my old school over to this school.
Like many days before there was no one, I was tearing up. I felt like I hit rock bottom that's how sad I was. I pretended to look down so no one would see me close my eyes to say a prayer one more time.
As I said the last words of "please, please, please"...I remember this strong warm feeling of comfort come over me and it was if it said,
"Cheer up, just be patient, in due time you'll have many friends, more than you can hope for now." I remember I tearfully smiled.
That did certainly become true.
I think of all the wonderful amazing friends I had in high school and even up till now.
The greatest friend being Tres!
It's worth noting that in a bout 6 months someone from my old school did move to my new school his name was Dauood. But by then I had learned to be ok with playing with who ever didn't have a friend that day, until I had a steady friend the next year.
I truely believe above all things that our Heavenly Father hears our prayers.
He answers them.
