Itchin' to cure my Cabin fever!

So it's sad but true...
**We've got LICE!**
I am seriously feel sick from all the chemicals and the boys hair is shaved down to the milimeter. Thankfully after careful examination only Abigail had it. We bagged up the pillows and stuffed animals, bought new bedding and hosed furnature and floors with ridx lice spray. I was very worried about how Melody would do with all the chemicals around but so far she's been great. (She still sounds a bit wheezy but it improves everyday.) Abby and I had really bad headaches...maybe useing the spray on our new pillows wasn't such a good idea.
Anyways, Abby and I soaked our heads with the lice shampoo and we get to do it again in 7 more days. Yea us!
{Someone once told me it's not if your kids will get it, it's when.}
With 5 kids we had 5 times the probability. We bought 4 fine toothed combs and had a combing party. I think the possibility of us missing ANYTHING is remote since we went to town on it, but I'm taking no chances and the laundry is being set, in my wonderful machines, on the sanitize cycle with vinegar.
Believe it or not hairspray and flat irons kill those buggers too but after all my researching into more organic methods: vinegar, mayo, treetea soap, others...they just aren't 100% effective (I'm laughing at some; it's organic but oh yeah it will also burn your skin and lighten your hair. ) The bottom line: Anything that is harsh enough to kill 'em all is not that fun for you either.
So the only way to be 100% sure is to use the evil killer chemical shampoo.
-->but no matter what
We are grounded for a week!
I really want out of this house!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
--->And so for your enjoyment, brought to you by the the CDC website, here's Roseanne's episode of:
Lice Myth busters:
  • They spread only by direct contact, IE: head to hat to head.
  • No, lice CAN NOT jump or even hop! ...That's fleas people.
  • No, they do not fly.
  • Head lice are the second most common condition among children – second only to the common cold.
  • lice prefer to live on clean heads.
  • Girls are more likely to get them than boys
  • Most common ages; 3-10
  • They drink only human blood so you cannot get head lice from pets.
  • Adult lice can live only 24 hours with out blood.
  • Lice can hold their breath under water for several hours.
  • Chlorine from pool water does not affect them.
  • A hair dryer, hairspray and curling irons can kill some but not all.
  • The lice shampoos are not 100% ovicidal so you need to remove all the eggs that are next to the scalp manually. Fine toothed combs are best.
  • It's more effective to use oil when combing that to comb dry.
  • one egg contains only one louse (lice).
  • one egg takes 7 days to hatch into a nymph, the nymph takes 7 days to become an adult.
  • An adult lives for 30 days & can lay up to 100 eggs.
  • An adult is the size of a sesame seed.
  • Head lice do not spread disease.
