First Jacob's letter:
Hello, so much is going on right now. Lets start answering questions.yes it's humid. umm yes I wright in my journal every day. It's been great in the field, I've got 7 baptisms lined up right now so i am EXCITED!!! I hope i get to do one of them but that's up to them.Yes I'm picking up on the Ebonics quite well ....Y'all. Yes Tres, Creole is a language unto itself and very difficult to understand. 1st there's southern then there's Creole...CRAZY!!! No, I haven't had chitterlings yet and am glad for that.Trisha I only wrote a letter each day for three days in th MTC until figured out you are only supposed to do it on the P-day, so yes I'm being obedient :-). I'm learning 5 somethings new every day and it's so great to be on the Lords errand for He truly has been helping me the whole time I've been out here. well I don't know what else to write so I say unto you GoodBye. _Elder Colvin

Letter from Bonnie:
HI! It is Pday and is now time for the update. Well, It rains a lot here and is quite humid....my hair curls...what the? Ha Ha...its funny though, everyone else besides me complains about it. Its not unbearable! Get over it!haha
Also I'd say, its not a very large town. There are a few places that are pretty nice, and there are also places that are as ghetto as you can be. Also, Mobile is 40% black and I've noticed that they are the ones who actually listen to us and are kind. I love them! There ears perk right up when they hear the name of Jesus Christ!
Also there are loads of less-actives. The ward has 900 people on the roster and has a 20% attendance rating!! That was certainly discouraging, at first. But then, I came to accept that this is what I was called to do. We have not had an easy time getting members to take us to appts. but I think it's just because we are new. But don't you worry, the work will not be stopped.Also I have found that obeying with exactness gives you great power, I cannot explain it but it does. I am very glad my trainer is strictly obedient. She's from tuscon by the way. We get along pretty good and have helped one another a lot.
Also last night we were out contacting and we saw this guy walk up to a glass door (to walk outside) and out of nowhere he puked all over it!!! We were quite shocked....I saw that he had been eating some pineapple!! ewww
Oddly enough he kept on walking like nothing happened. We see a lot of weird stuff here. That is the second vomit I've been privileged to witness. One time I almost went up to a guy and at the last second Sis. Chapman got me away....I didn't notice he was just standing there peeing!! in public!!! at a car wash!!
Also,
Drivers are crazy here. red lights are run all the time.
Anyways, I definitely love the south! It is so fun to watch people interact....very warm and friendly with that southern style. It is also interesting to see how some people have had a great struggle with different races. People talk a lot about it here, how they themselves don't have prob. with blacks but others do. You can really see that some people have had a hard time with it, getting over it...because they bring it up a lot! weird huh? Also, "Y'all" is definitely the thing to say here. Also, You can't call people by their 1st name, you gotta say Miss Bonnie instead of just Bonnie.
Anyways THANK YOU for the package! i was greatly relieved it wasn't chalked full of sweets...i don't wanna get fat! I don't get to have a lot of cardio anymore( she has a hard time running...). I want you all to know that I APPRECIATE your letters. After a long, hard day, it is so nice to open the mailbox and get a letter from my fam. I love hearing about your lives and all that. I will try to send pics. soon if I can. Make sure and tell me stuff that the kids are saying too!!
